Cities are designed for man, man are not designed for cities. How far do you agree? What are the ironies of human develpoment? The list goes on and on.
Well, probably we don't realise that but humans are obviously becoming more individualistic and seperated for one another. The innately gregarious animal we humans are, such development is no where positive for our emotional development. Wasn't development supposed to bring the world closer together with the advance in technology and communications. Here comes the irony. We constantly invent new methods of communication to bring people closer but communication through such means are seperating people more than anything other things ever did. Online portals for keeping in touch with friends, people have network of up to over thousands of people but do humans really have the emotional capacity to deal with the vast nuber of contacts or do we in fact have little idea of who we should consider a friend. This is debatable. People can argue that they say hi to the people in their network. I can say hi to strangers too, whats the big deal about it.
Were humans designed to cope with stress that is obviously a rising phenomenon in today's society. I guess not. In the past, it was the desire of people to make their way to the city in seach for a 'better life'. Today, the opposite applies, it is the desire of people to escape city life. For peace, quiet and less stressful lifestyle, they all operate in opposite direction with development. Lets build a Green City, we exclaim. From the time we decided to manipulate and create our very artificial environment, we are hoping to rebuild the green aspects into our lives again.
I really feel that we were not born to deal with conflicts. If we were, there wouldn't have been still so much frictions unsolved. The complexities we are adding to our lives, are they truely beneficial?
